Atlanta Hawks v Milwaukee Bucks

Two teams on opposite sides of the Eastern Conference standings face off on Saturday when the Atlanta Hawks (29-51) travel to take on the Milwaukee Bucks (59-21).

Milwaukee Bucks

After clinching the NBA’s best record it appears that the Bucks have put the season in cruise control. Milwaukee has been resting many of their key players, including Giannis Antetokounmpo. The MVP candidate was not involved at all in the Bucks last game, and is expected to miss Saturday’s game as well. This will most definitely affect the scoring output for the Bucks. Milwaukee is averaging the most points scored in the entire league, putting up 118.2 per game this season. Without Giannis, many can expect this total to take a hit. Antetokounmpo’s replacement, C.J. Wilson, was a non-factor in the Bucks last game, and looks incapable of producing any kind of consistent offense. Look for Bledsoe and Middleton to undertake much of the scoring responsibly as the Bucks try to close the regular season out strong.

The Bucks are coming off of a loss to the Nets, but have went 7-3 in their last 10 games. Milwaukee has an elite home record of 32-7, and has went 3-2 in their last five home games.

Milwaukee Bucks Expected Starting Lineup

Eric Bledsoe, Sterling Brown, Khris Middleton, D.J. Wilson, Brook Lopez

Atlanta Hawks

It has been an up and down (mostly down) season for the Atlanta Hawks, who are looking to close out the season strong. Atlanta failed to compete in the East this season, but there were some positives to take away from this year’s campaign. For one, rookie guard Trae Young has looked like a legit scorer of the basketball. Many spectators and fans had high expectations for the 20-year-old, and he has not disappointed. In his first NBA season, Young is averaging 19.0 points and 8.1 assists. He is second in rookie scoring, behind only Luka Doncic. Forward John Collins has also made huge strides this season. After putting up just over 10 points per game last year, Collins has had a breakout season, almost doubling his scoring output. Collins is averaging 19.5 points per game, and is grabbing 9.6 rebounds, just shy of averaging a triple double. At just 21 years of age, Collins has been a unexpected standout for Atlanta. Expect the young pair of Collins and Young to put in a performance on the road against a very good Bucks team, as they have been Atlanta’s best one-two punch.

The Hawks are coming off of a loss to the Orlando Magic, and have a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. Atlanta has struggled on the road this season, going 12-28 in 40 away games. In their last five games on the road, the Hawks are 1-4.

The Money Line

Here are how the odds to win the match look from the bookies ahead of the game.

Atlanta Hawks to win @ 6.00 (5/1) with Betfair.
Milwaukee Bucks to win @ 1.14 (1/7) with William Hill.

Odds taken at 09:00 GMT 07/04/2019

Key Points

  • Milwaukee has already locked in the NBA’s best record this season
  • The Milwaukee Bucks have won six of their last seven games against the Atlanta Hawks
  • Trae Young has averaged a double-double against the Bucks this season (17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game)

Our Verdict and Best Bets

Saturday’s matchup between the Hawks and the Bucks is one that is hard to call. The Bucks are the superior team, but are expected to pick a lineup that is less than their best. The Hawks have nothing to play for, but have a roster filled with hungry, young talent. Bettors taking action on this game should consider betting with the Hawks, and on the under. The Bucks will be without their biggest scoring threat, and will want a slow tempo game. The Hawks will have more scoring on the court, and will be able to influence the game much easier without Antetokounmpo in the lineup for the Bucks. Look for the Hawks to play well in a low scoring game Saturday night.
