LA Clippers v Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors

Steph Curry and the Warriors host the Clippers for Game 2 of the playoffs. Curry was instrumental in the first victory, hitting eight three pointers and leading all players in scoring (38). His performance was huge for Golden State, and it was able to overshadow some of the mistakes made by the Warriors. One mistake that can’t happen too many more times is the temper tantrums of Kevin Durant. Durant was ejected after constant back-and-forth between himself and Patrick Beverley. Although it didn’t hurt the Warriors this game, these kinds of antics can bite a team in the back later in the competition. Durant will be back for Game 2, and will want to continue is solid shooting from Game 1. Durant had 23 points on 50% shooting on Saturday, and is our player to watch in the second game of this series.

The Warriors are now 8-2 in their last 10 games. Golden State has been elite at Oracle Arena, going 30-11 at home during the regular season. Including their Game 1 win over the Clips, Golden State is 5-0 in their last five home games.

LA Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers look to bounce back after a 17 point thumping in Game 1. The starting five for the Clippers was underwhelming on Saturday, scoring just 39 points between the five starters. The youthfulness of this Clippers side is starting to show, and the Warriors are taking full advantage. Look for coach Doc Rivers and the Clippers to up the minutes of the veteran players on Monday. Forward Montrezl Harrell led all Clippers with 26 points scored in Game 1, shooting 11-15 from the field coming off of the bench. His productivity and size matched up with Draymond Green well, and could be an X-factor for the Clips going forward. Explosive scorer Lou Williams had himself a 25 point game off the bench in Game 1, and always has the potential to go off in any game. The Clippers will need other players to step up, as Williams and Harrell are expected to produce big again in Game 2.

The Clippers weren’t in the best form heading into the playoffs. After the Game 1 loss to the Warriors, the Clippers are now 5-5 in their last 10 games. The Clippers are on the road again on Monday. LA turned in a 22-19 road record at the end of the regular season. In their last five away games, the Clippers have a 2-3 record.

LA Clippers Expected Starting Lineup
Patrick Beverley, Landry Shamet, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, Ivica Zubac

Key Points

  • Golden State has won the last four games against the Los Angeles Clippers
  • The last 10 games between the Warriors and Clippers has averaged 226 total points per game
  • Warriors guard Steph Curry is averaging 32.3 points per game against the Clippers in three games this season

Our Verdict and Best Bets

Things got feisty in Game 1 between the Clippers and the Warriors when Patrick Beverley and Kevin Durant continued to scuffle with each other. This type of game will favor the Clippers, but only if the Warriors give in. If Golden State can keep their composure like they did for much of the first game in the series, then this one is already settled. The Warriors are simply too good at home to be beaten by this Clippers team. Durant and Thompson have not even gotten started yet. Expect a well-rounded, composed performance for the Warriors on Monday. Bettors should lean towards the over bet on this one. With both teams getting settled in, this game looks like it will be packed with quality offense by both teams.
