Toronto Raptors v Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks meet Kawhi Leonard and the Toronto Raptors in an electrifying Eastern Conference Finals. Kawhi Leonard is fresh off of his Game 7 heroics, and has the Raptors back in the Conference Finals for the first time since 2015-16. As for the Bucks, Antetokounmpo and company made easy work of the Celtics in their last round, as Milwaukee has looked like the team to beat in the East.

Milwaukee Bucks

So far, so good for the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs. After a sweep of the Detroit Pistons in the first round, the Bucks took only five games to knock out Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics. On top of their high level performance, the Bucks also were able to bring back guard Malcolm Brogdon in their last series against the Celtics. Brogdon started 64 regular season games for the Bucks, and played a huge part in the Bucks earning the best record in the NBA. After missing 20+ games due to injury, Brogdon has made a full recovery, and was able to get some minutes under his belt in Game 5 of the Bucks last series. Brogdon’s return adds another deadly three-point shooter to this Bucks team, as the guard shot 42% from behind the arc during the regular season. With Antetokounmpo dominating the paint, and the sharpshooting of Khris Middleton, George HIll and Malcolm Brogdon, this Bucks team will be a tough one to stop, especially at home in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Milwaukee Bucks are putting together an impressive postseason so far. Milwaukee has lost just one game in the playoffs, going 8-1 so far. The Bucks are riding a four game winning streak, and will be at home for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Milwaukee has a 4-1 home record thus far in the postseason.

Toronto Raptors

It looks like the big offseason moves made by the Raptors last offseason have started to pay off. Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors have found their way to the Eastern Conference Finals after beating the Philadelphia 76ers in a crazy seven game series. Leonard took over for Toronto late in the series, scoring 41 points on a career-high 39 shot attempts in Game 7. The small forward is having a historically great playoff run in his first postseason as a Raptor. Out of 12 playoff games, Leonard has scored 30+ in seven of them. Leonard averaged 34.7 points per game against the 76ers in his last series, and he’ll need to produce similar stats if Toronto is going to challenge the Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals. This is a Raptors team that is limited in their scoring options. Pascal Siakam has been efficient, and Kyle Lowry can go for 15-20 on any given night, but neither of these players have the ability to create their own shot. This Toronto team’s success is directly correlated to the performance of Kawhi Leonard, leaving it up to the small forward to take this team as far as he can in this series against the Bucks.

For the first time in this year’s playoffs, the Raptors will start a series on the road. Toronto has been a decent team away from home in the postseason, putting up a 3-2 record in five away games. The Raptors went 1-1 in two games in Milwaukee during the regular season, winning in their last visit in January.

Key Points

  • Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 27.4 points per game and 11.3 rebounds per game
  • The Milwaukee Bucks have won four of the last five games against the Toronto Raptors
  • Kawhi Leonard (31.8 ppg) is averaging the second-most points of any player in the playoffs

Our Verdict and Best Bets

The Milwaukee Bucks host the Toronto Raptors in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bucks come into this game as heavy favorites, and for good reason. For starters, they’ve had much more time to prepare for this than the Raptors. Milwaukee was able to put away the Celtics in just five games, while it took the Raptors a long and demanding seven games to get past the 76ers. This extra rest will give the Bucks a slight advantage, especially considering they’re at home for Game 1. The Raptors have not established enough scoring behind Kawhi Leonard, and this will show on Wednesday in the first game of this Eastern Conference Finals. Bettors should consider placing a wager on the Bucks spread in this one. Milwaukee will want to send a message with a big Game 1 victory, and they will have plenty of firepower to do so.
