Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills (5-10) have lost three of their last four games, but sport a 2-1 record over their last three matchups at New Era Field. A loss by the Bills on Sunday would guarantee the team a top seven pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Miami Dolphins (7-8) were eliminated from playoff contention last week in an uninspiring setback to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Dolphins have dropped their last two games and are just 1-6 on the road this season. A loss by the Dolphins would guarantee the team a top 15 pick in next year’s draft.

Buffalo Bills

Rookie quarterback Josh Allen completed 20 of 41 passes for 217 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions in a hard-fought loss to the New England Patriots last week. The former Wyoming standout leads the Bills in both passing (1,850) and rushing (536) yards heading into the final week of the regular season. Rookie running back Keith Ford tallied 33 yards on seven carries in Week 16, while veteran LeSean McCoy carried the rock six times for only nine yards. Zay Jones hauled in five passes for 67 yards and a score, and has a team-high 50 receptions for 599 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bills feature the league’s second-ranked defence that also boast a secondary that has limited opposing teams to a league-low 182.7 passing yards a game. Tight end Charles Clay was a healthy scratch for Week 16 against the Patriots and is not in the teams plans for next season. McCoy, who was benched to open the game and missed the first play, also seems to be headed out of Buffalo once the season ends.

Miami Dolphins

Ryan Tannehill completed 15 of 22 passes for 146 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in a mediocre Week 16 outing. The 30-year-old quarterback has tossed 17 scoring passes and seven picks in another injury-plagued campaign. Kenyan Drake paced a horrible rushing attack against the Jaguars with 23 yards on six carries, while Kalen Ballage mustered only 10 yards on four touches. Brandon Bolden caught a four-yard touchdown pass for the Dolphin’s lone score last week.

The Dolphins have lost six consecutive road games and have not won a game away from Hard Rock Stadium since Sept. 16th. Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard (knee) missed his third straight game last week and might be shutdown with one meaningless game left on the slate. Dolphins coach Adam Gase is reportedly “in jeopardy” of being fired after another disappointing season.

Miami Dolphins to win @ 3.25 (9/4)

Our Verdict and Best Bets

In a matchup that the Dolphins need to win, and the Bills would not mind losing, Miami is in line to earn its second road win of the year. Although Buffalo’s running attack should find plenty of holes against a defence that is allowing 143.9 rushing yards a game, it’s also a good bet that the Bills will not let a high draft pick slip through their fingers with a pointless win in the regular season finale. The Dolphins beat Buffalo by four points in Week 13 and should prevail again due to the Bills tanking for a high draft pick.

Miami Dolphins to win @ 3.25 (9/4) with William Hill.
