Man City v Watford

Watford will try to deny Manchester City of the treble in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Man City is coming off of winning the English Premier League title last weekend, and have won their last seven matches, while Watford has went without a win in their last four matches.

Man City

This special City side take the pitch one last time this season. With high level talents at each position and hyper-focused tactics, his Man City team has proved to be one of Pep Guardiola’s best squads ever. City will be looking for an 11th straight victory over Watford, a side that has proven to be unable to cope with the pace and attacking movement of City’s wide players. Raheem Sterling has been one of the most effective wingers in all of Europe this season, as the England international has 23 goals and 12 assists across all competitions for his club. With Aguero’s movement at the center forward position and the delivery of Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne, Sterling has found great success on the end of crosses from his midfielders. The pace in which this City side hit on the break is lightning-quick, possessing a legit goal threat with each move forward. Expect a potent City side at Wembley on Saturday, as a Cup Final seems like a perfect atmosphere for more goals from Pep’s Man City side.

Manchester City has been in impeccable form heading into the FA Cup Final. City has a perfect 6-0-0 record in their last six games. Pep Guardiola’s side has had a fairly simple road to the final, beating Swansea in the quarterfinals before knocking out Brighton in the semis. City has found success often at Wembley this season, going 4-0-0 in four games (away fixture v. Tottenham, League Cup Semifinal and Final, FA Cup Final).

Man City Expected Starting Lineup
Ederson, Walker, Kompany, Laporte, Zinchenko, Gundogan, D. Silva, De Bruyne, B Silva, Sterling, Aguero

Watford

The Hornets of Watford have a chance to end their 2018-19 season with a piece of hardware with the FA Cup on the line. Watford has only made it to this stage of the tournament one time before in the club’s history, when they lost 0-2 to Everton in the 1983-84 FA Cup Final. On paper, this Watford side has a chance against any other team on their day. The midfield of Watford is loaded with physicality and technique, with players like Abdoulaye Doucouré and Roberto Pereyra making this Watford side well-balanced. The Hornets best chance at winning this match will likely come on the counter. Pacey striker Gerard Deulofeu holds the most threat for Watford in the attack, as he’s racked up 12 goals for Watford in all competitions.

Watford have been in abysmal form ahead of their FA Cup Final, going 1-1-4 in their last four matches. The Hornets have overcome decent quality on their way to their second ever FA Cup Final appearance, beating Crystal Palace in the quarterfinals, and Wolves in the semifinals. Watford has played at Wembley twice this season, going 1-1 (loss in away fixture v. Tottenham, win in FA Cup final v. Wolves.

Watford Expecting Starting Lineup
Foster, Femenia, Mariappa, Cathcart, Holebas, Capoue, Doucoure, Hughes, Pereyra, Deeney, Deulofeu

Our Verdict and Best Bets

Watford and Manchester City matchup for the third time this year, but this time it’s for the FA Cup. Watford has been unable to deal with Manchester City at all prior to this matchup, losing the last 10 matches to City. This trend has a strong chance of continuing in the FA Cup Final, especially considering how special and dangerous this City team has been this year. Look for goals in this game, as this City team will be motivated to go out with a bang. Most sportsbooks have the over/under set at 3 goals, making the over a no-brainer in this one, with goals from Aguero and Raheem Sterling looking likely with De Bruyne coming back into the side.
