Chelsea fall to six goals from Manchester City

Chelsea have suffered their worst ever defeat to Man City today which ended 6-0 to the home side.

Raheem Sterling led with the opener and within 20 minutes, Man City were 4 – 0 up courtesy of two from Sergio Aguero and one from Ilkay Gundogan seeing them through to half time.

Throughout the game Chelsea did not look comfortable with the ball, constantly losing possession and ending up back in their own half pressurised by City. The second half didn’t get much better for the Blues with Aguero scoring a penalty in the 56th minute and claiming his hat-trick. One more goal would follow in the 80th minute from the man who started proceedings, Raheem Sterling, making it 6-0 to Man City.

It was a momentous day for Sergio Aguero too which meant that he equalled the Premier League hat-trick record held by Alan Shearer with 11 Hat-tricks.

Premier League Most Hat-Tricks Scored

1st Sergio Aguero, Alan Shearer 11
2nd Robbie Fowler 9
3rd Michael Owen, Thierry Henry, Harry Kane 8

Man City now return to the top of the table on goal difference and piling on the pressure to Liverpool’s title hopes.

After tomorrow night’s match between Wolves v Newcastle, the Premier League takes a break until Friday 22nd February to make way for the Champions League and Europa League next week. The excitement will certainly pick up where it left off however though with Liverpool visiting Old Trafford to take on Man Utd on Sunday 24th February.
