Liverpool v Wolves

Liverpool host Wolves in the finale of the Premier League season. Liverpool will be looking to take care of business at home as they pray for a City slip-up, while Wolves are out to finish off a successful first season in the EPL.

Liverpool

What a week it has been for Liverpool. The Reds were able to pull off the impossible on Wednesday, beating Barcelona by four goals to nil, turning around a three goal deficit to advance to the Champions League Final in Madrid. The dream isn’t over for Liverpool yet, as they still have a chance at winning the Premier League title on Matchday 38 of the Premier League season. Liverpool is currently just one point behind table leaders Manchester City. Any slip up by Pep Guardiola and his side would open up a chance for Liverpool to sneak in and end the season as Champions. With all of Sunday’s fixtures starting at the same time, Liverpool won’t know the Manchester City result until after their own game. This might be a positive for Liverpool, who will need 100% focus on their matchup against Wolves. This is a dangerous Wolves side who has already pulled off a winning result against Liverpool this season, beating the Reds 2-1 in the FA Cup. Expect a very strong side from Jurgen Klopp on Sunday, with leading scorer Mohamed Salah likely to be included. Salah was forced to miss Wednesday’s matchup against Barcelona with a head injury, but will have to be chosen against Wolves on Saturday. Salah has scored 22 Premier League goals this season, and will likely win the Golden Boot on Sunday (barring 2+ goal performances from Aguero, Mane, Aubameyang).

Liverpool has been in tremendous form ahead of the final Premier League match of the season. The Reds have went 5-0-1 in their last six matches across all competitions, but have won their last eight Premier League games. Liverpool will be at home to close the season. The Reds are the only team who have yet to lose at home this season, as Liverpool has recorded a Premier League record of 16-2-0 at Anfield this season, taking 50 points from a possible 54. In their last five home games across all competitions, Liverpool are a perfect 5-0-0.

Wolves

It’s been an almost ideal season for Wolverhampton, who have dazzled in their first season back in the Premier League. Wolves have surprised many teams in the Premier League, as they’ve cemented their seventh place finish in the league already. This is a side that has pulled out some big results during their Premier League campaign. Wolves have beaten Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham, and Chelsea in the league this season, and knocked Manchester United and Liverpool out of the FA Cup. Talented midfielder Ruben Neves has played a huge part in Wolves success this season. The 22-year-old has scored four goals and assisted four more in the Premier League this season. Neves is often considered the catalyst of this squad, as his passing and set pieces are often huge threats going forward for Wolves. Look for the youngster to put in one last head-turning performance against Liverpool on Sunday.

Wolves have ended this season in decent form, winning their last three matches heading into Matchday 38. Wolves have went 3-1-2 in their last six matches. Wolves have been an average side away from home this season, going 6-5-7 in 18 matches. In their last five away matches, Wolves have a 1-1-3 record.

Our Verdict and Best Bets

Liverpool and Wolves meet at Anfield for an intriguing matchup on the final day. Liverpool would have wanted to face any other mid-table team except this Wolves side. Wolves have made a name for themselves by beating big teams this season, and their motivation will be high again on Sunday. Bettors should be considering the +1.5 Wolves goal spread in this one. Liverpool is coming off of a very emotionally draining game against Barcelona, which could cause a slow start from the home side. This Wolves team has the quality to beat this Liverpool team, making this spread bet an attractive offer to most bettors.
