Tottenham v Huddersfield

Relegated Huddersfield Town will pay a visit to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take on Spurs as they chase a top four finish in the Premier League.

Tottenham

After a monster Champions League win at home, Tottenham have a chance to make it a fruitful week with another win in their new stadium against Huddersfield on Saturday. Tottenham currently sit in the coveted fourth place position in the league, but only have a one point lead over fifth place Arsenal, and a three point lead over sixth place Manchester United. Spurs must take all three points in this winnable home fixture, but will have to do so without star striker Harry Kane. Kane went down with a significant ankle injury in Tottenham’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League. Manager Mauricio Pochettino has already expressed his concern over Kane’s health, as early diagnoses have estimated that Kane will be fortunate if he is able to play again this season. This is a huge blow to Tottenham, as Kane is Spurs leading scorer with 17 league goals this season. Fernando Llorente will step in to replace the striker, but wide man Son Heung-min is expected to make up for the goal production. Son was able to get the winner in the huge Champions League tie in midweek, and has been dangerous for Spurs all season, netting 12 goals of his own in the Premier League.

Tottenham have been decent as of late, going 3-0-2 in their last five matches. Spurs are undefeated in their new stadium so far, going 2-0. Overall, Tottenham is 10-1-4 in 15 home games so far, taking 31 points from a possible 45. In their last five home matches, Spurs have a record of 4-1-0.

Huddersfield

After two seasons of playing in the Premier League, Huddersfield prepare to drop down into the Championship, as their relegation fate as been sealed early. Winning just three matches all season so far, it’s not hard to tell where the problems lie for Huddersfield. They have only scored 19 goals in 33 matches, by far the lowest goal tally in the Premier League. Huddersfield has been shut out four times in their last seven matches, and this trend may very well continue this weekend. With no player scoring more than three goals so far this season, there is no real threat in this side. Captain and leader Aaron Mooy has three goals this season, and will be one of few dangerous players on the pitch for Huddersfield on Saturday against Tottenham. Expect a tight, defensive effort from Huddersfield, who will try to do their damage on the counter attack this weekend.

As expected, the team on the bottom of the Premier League table is far from in-from heading into this matchup. Huddersfield has lost their last five matches, going 1-0-5 in their last six matches. Their away form has similar similar tendencies, as Huddersfield town has taken just six points in away matches in the league this season, going 1-3-12 on the road. In their last five away matches, Huddersfield is 0-0-5, being shut out in four of those five matches.

Our Verdict and Best Bets

This game has a Spurs win all over it, but things might not be so straightforward without Harry Kane. Fortunate for Tottenham, creative midfielder Christian Eriksen has been in pure form lately. The Dane has six goals and 11 assists so far in the Premier League, and will be looking to create chance after chance against a vulnerable Huddersfield defense. Bettors should stay away from the -1.5 spread though, as this looks like it could be a one-goal win for Tottenham on Saturday.
