Los Angeles FC v FC Dallas

Los Angeles FC (8-3-1) look to continue their stay on top of the MLS standings as they host FC Dallas (5-2-4) in a mid-week Western Conference clash.

Los Angeles FC

Los Angeles FC is back in action on Thursday, and they’ll be looking to stretch their lead in the Western Conference. LAFC is currently in first place, and rightly so. Bob Bradley’s team has been prolific from front to back in the first quarter of this season. Bradley has his side firing on all cylinders, as LAFC has the most goals scored and the least goals conceded in the MLS. Going forward, veteran striker Carlos Vela has been absolutely deadly in front of goal, scoring 12 goals in 12 matches. His 12 goals is leading the MLS, and the Mexican international is just getting started. With four goals in his last four matches, look for Vela to be a huge factor at home on Thursday. At +235 odds to be the first goal scorer of the match, Vela represents a great value for bettors.

LAFC has enjoyed a strong start to the season. LA has went undefeated in their last four matches, recording a 3-2-1 record in their last six games. LAFC will be at home for Thursday’s match. LA is one of four MLS teams who have remained undefeated at home this season. They’ve went 5-1-0 in their first six home games of the season.

FC Dallas

FC Dallas look to stop their two game skid on Thursday when they visit LAFC. This may prove to be easier said than done, as Dallas has had their problems going forward this season. FC Dallas has scored just twice in their last three games, confirming a lack of attacking production for the club. Last year’s leading scorer Dominique Badji has been a non-factor so far this season, scoring just one goal in seven matches. FC Dallas manager Luchi Gonzalez may decide to have youngster Jesus Ferreira lead the line going forward in Thursday’s match. The 18 year old has shown promise when given the opportunity this season, as he’s scored a team-high four goals in 10 appearances so far.

FC Dallas has hit a rough patch early this season. Dallas has lost their last two matches, and has recorded a 2-1-3 record over their last six. Dallas is on the road for their sixth away match of the season on Thursday. FC Dallas has been hit or miss in their first five away matches, going 2-0-3 away from home so far this season.

Our Verdict and Best Bets

Thursday’s game between LAFC and FC Dallas will give us a better idea of how legit each of these squads are in a competitive Western Conference. LAFC has been the standard of the MLS so far this season, as they sit on top of the league table with a huge goal differential. Playing at home on Thursday, LAFC has a decent chance of getting another win and expanding that goal differential. The veteran talent has began to mesh with the young flair in the LAFC team, with Carlos Vela and Mark-Anthony Kaye emerging as big impact players. Bettors should roll with LAFC while they’re hot. A -1.5 LAFC spread has EVEN odds going into Thursday, making for a tempting line for those who are predicting a big LAFC win.
