New York City FC v FC Cincinnati

New York City FC (4-8-1) looks to shake their streak of ties with a big performance against struggling MLS newcomers FC Cincinnati (3-2-10).

New York City FC

NYCFC finally return home after a successful four game road trip. New York City went 2-2-0 on the trip, which includes two clean sheet victories away from home. The only issue this side has had this season has been the ability to turn draws into victories. NYCFC have only lost one match all season so far, but their eight ties has them sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, sitting just two points above the 7th-9th squads. New York City have had trouble replacing last year’s leading goalscorer David Villa. Brazilian striker Heber has been the closest thing to a goal threat up top for NYCFC. The 27-year-old, who was signed in March, is the most likely to get on the scoresheet for New York City against a weak FC Cincinnati defensive unit.

New York City FC has put together a good run of form leading up to their matchup against FC Cincinnati. NYCFC just capped off an undefeated month of April and May, going unbeaten in their last nine matches. In their last six, New York City has a record of 3-3-0. The home form of NYCFC has been somewhat of a mystery this season. While they’ve went undefeated, New York City have much to improve on at home, as their 1-4-0 record will confirm.

FC Cincinnati

The inaugural season for FC Cincinnati has been as challenging as many predicted it would be. After 15 matches played, FC Cincinnati finds themselves in last place, with just 11 points to show for their performances. This is a squad that has had problems finding the back of the net all season. Cinci has scored an MLS-low 12 goals scored as a team all season, and has been shut out in seven of their last 11 matches. With no goal scorers over two goals on the season, FC Cincinnati are in desperate need of an offensive explosion against NYCFC on Thursday.

FC Cincinnati has been in poor form ahead of their Thursday night matchup against NYCFC. This side has lost three in a row, and has a 1-0-5 record in their last six. FC Cincinnati has been extremely unproductive away from home this season as well. They’ve put up a 1-1-7 record in nine games away from home, and have a winless record of 0-0-5 in their last five.

Our Verdict and Best Bets

New York City FC look to stretch their unbeaten streak to 10 matches when they host FC Cincinnati on Thursday. Cincinnati has had their growing pains in their first MLS season, and these pains are likely to continue against a tough NYCFC team. New York City returns home after four matches, and has been undefeated at home all season. Look for an impressive performance from the home team on Thursday, making a bet on the -1.5 NYCFC spread for (+130) an interesting one. Bettors should be looking to take advantage of a good matchup for New York City FC, as they should be able to take three points at home on Thursday.
